
RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Ivy created multiple chances on net in the second half but could not find an equalizer, falling 1-0 to Virginia Development Academy on Wednesday at City Stadium. A tightly contested defensive battle, the Ivy defensive was spearheaded by eight saves from Lauren Hargrove who earned player of the match honors.
Richmond created several dangerous opportunities throughout the night, testing the VDA back line with strong attacking sequences and near misses around the box. Lauren Hargrove and the Ivy defense held firm for much of the match, making key stops to keep things level into halftime. VDA eventually broke through in the second half, while Richmond’s late push nearly found an equalizer after Sunniyah Tucker rattled the crossbar in the closing minutes.
VDA was led by Bree Bridges who put the visitors on the board.
