Flammia will be a driving force at midfield on the City Stadium pitch.
RICHMOND, Va. – W League RVA is pleased to announce that U.S. U-20 Women’s Youth National Team (U-20 WYNT) and University of Virginia (UVA) midfielder Jill Flammia has agreed to play for her hometown club in its inaugural season pending league and federation approval.
“Playing for this team is a dream come true for me,” Flammia said. “It’s not just about soccer; it’s about representing my hometown, inspiring others, and being part of something bigger than myself. This opportunity means everything to me, and I’m ready to give it my all.”
A Goochland County native and former Richmond United player, Flammia went to play at UVA in the fall of 2022. In her first year with the Cavaliers, Flammia was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team. She appeared in 15 games and logged four goals on the season.
The Cavaliers opened the 2022 season against George Mason where Flammia made her debut and, by the team’s second game that season, she had scored. Flammia also came in clutch for the Hoos at the end of the season. She scored in UVA’s 3-2 overtime win in the NCAA Round of 16 against Penn State to keep them in the game and ultimately send the Cavaliers to the Elite Eight.
This season, Flammia started 14 games, amassing three goals and one assist. Two of her three goals on the season served as game winners for the Cavaliers. The first of them, Flammia scored in the 65th minute to put the Cavaliers up 1-0 on the Miami Hurricanes.
Flammia’s second game winner opened the scoring for the Cavaliers in their final game of the season. In the 40th minute against the Syracuse Orange, Flammia received a pass as she crossed into the attacking third, dribbled straight into the eighteen and towards the spot before drilling the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal. The Hoos would go on to win the game 4-0 behind Flammia’s initial score.
Between her two collegiate seasons, Flammia earned a place on the U.S. U-20 WYNT. Having attended several youth camps before this, Flammia entered the May 2023 camp with some experience under her belt and helped the team to second place in the CONCACAF Championship. Flammia saw action in the group stage wins over Jamaica and Canada and started in the semifinal 2-1 win over Costa Rica. Before these appearances, Flammia played for the U-14, U-16, and U-18 YNT programs.

She’s excellent at finding pockets of space on the field in order to break lines, she is confident in taking on defenders, and works extremely hard both offensively and defensively. We’re excited for what she brings to the Richmond community as well as our team both on and off the field with her energy, commitment and character!”
Before college, Flammia earned a No. 26 overall ranking from Top Drawer Soccer. With Richmond United she was a four-time ECNL Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year and made four ECNL Mid-Atlantic All-Conference Teams from 2018-2021. In 2019, she made ECNL Best XI and in 2021 earned the ECNL All-American Award in addition to her four U.S. YNT call ups.
“Jill is a dynamic midfielder that is incredibly technical with an eye for the goal,” W League RVA Head Coach Kimmy Cummings said. “She has the expertise to build an attack from the midfield with her innate ability to take players on individually as well as combine to break opponents down. Jill has incredible experience having been called in for USYNT opportunities as well as her career thus far at the University of Virginia. Jill is a Richmond-grown player that is sure to bring excitement to City Stadium!”
As a strong, quick midfielder, Flammia played over 1000 minutes on the year and established herself on the Cavaliers’ roster as a reliable piece of the attacking force. Flammia will bring the same energy to W League RVA and create opportunities for herself and others while she’s here.
