Rosenbaum buries an early goal to put the Ivy up for most of the match
The Richmond Ivy headed to Charlottesville to take on the Blues. After controlling most of the match, and an early goal from Sarah Rosenbaum, the Ivy ended up tying the home team 1-1.
The Ivy set the tone early, coming out hard on the offensive in the 6th minute. Rosenbaum drove up the center and passed to Olivia Woodson on the right side who attempted a shot, but it was tipped out by a Charlottesville defender.
A minute later, the Ivy found another try as Rosenbaum wouldn’t slow down. She sent a ball to Taylor Berry who headed it just wide of the net.
In the 9th minute, Jill Flammia drove up the center and passed to Rosenbaum who drove to the top of the box. She sent a beautiful back right into the back of the net, putting the Ivy on the board.
In the 29th minute, Charlottesville got a breakaway down the middle where they sent it out wide. The Ivy stood strong as they quickly shut down the attempt and would reset for control of the game.
Rosenbaum showed off her skills in the 36th minutes as she shot around a Charlottesville defender, but the long strike went just over the crossbar.
With Ivy in the lead going into the second half, the Richmond side continued to control. Olivia Woodson passed to Morgan Oliver on the left side. She sent a ball to the middle of the box where Taylor Berry just barely missed again.
In the 76th minute, Charlottesville tried another shot, sending a long ball to the box where they tried a header. Miller stepped in, cut off the attempt and deflected it away. The Blues players caught the rebound and sent it back, but Miller would not let the ball get past.
Although he Ivy controlled the game, the Blues found a last second opportunity in stoppage time to steal a goal of their own, ending the game in a 1-1 draw.
