The club remains the only ones to steal a point from the Blues all season.
In a physical, back-and-forth match, the Richmond Ivy fell to the Annapolis Blues on the road, 2-0 to close the 2025 season.
The first offensive opportunity came in the sixth minute as Annapolis won a free kick near the midfield circle. The proceeding long ball played into the box was easily claimed by Lauren Hargrove.
Richmond’s first attack came in the eighth minute as Sophie Stroud won the ball near midfield and turned to build. A perfect through ball from Stroud hit Molly Flammia in stride on the left wing. Flammia settled and laced a shot from outside the box, pulling it just left of the goal.
Tight defense from Bekah Doolittle and Ava Jung on the baseline forced a difficult shot to shut down the Annapolis attack in the 13th minute. But, Annapolis would return quickly and put one on the scoreboard first in the 16th minute.
Unable to break through Richmond’s defense, Annapolis was forced to settle for another shot from distance in the 24th, but Jill Flammia stayed in perfect position to keep the shot off target.
Minutes later, a long ball was played over the top for the Blues but Jung was able to apply pressure and deflect the ball out of bounds to extinguish the scoring threat.
The Blues added another goal before half time.
Annapolis built an attack early in the second half, an errant cross was forced by Richmond’s defense and easily snagged by Hargrove near the six.
In the 48th minute, Jill Flammia won the ball in the opponents’ half, dribbled down the left wing, glanced over her right shoulder and found Molly Flammia at the top of the 18. Molly showed her ball control, dodging two defenders and sending it back to Jill who laced a shot that was just barely off the mark.
The two teams would battle back and forth through the half. Hargrove made an exceptional one-on-one save to kill an Annapolis attack midway through the half and with the help of her backline, kept them out for the rest of the match.
Annapolis lined up for a free kick that was put on frame but seamlessly collected by Hargrove, with less than ten minutes to play in the second half.
As the game came to a close, Gianna Chrapek played a pristine through ball to Molly Flammia, streaking through the heart of the Blues’ defense. Flammia immediately put a shot on frame but the keeper was just able to get to it.
